Hi, my name is Sharon Wacks. I’m a longtime friend and colleague of Karen’s, and I’m organizing this fundraiser with her consent to help ease the ongoing stressors that have made it so difficult for her to fully heal.

Karen Truhon is a holistic registered nurse, Reiki Master, and ThetaHealing Instructor who has spent decades supporting others through illness, grief, and major life transitions. She is the first person to show up for someone else. Asking for help herself has never been her way.

After a serious health event, it became clear that what Karen needs right now isn’t more appointments or more effort. She needs rest, stability, and a living environment that actually supports her body’s ability to recover.

Unfortunately, her home has not been able to provide that.

A flood caused by an upstairs neighbor’s shower leak tore apart Karen’s downstairs condo. While the initial tear-out and drying were completed, insurance coverage stopped there. What remains is an unfinished space with open walls, damaged flooring, and rooms that can’t be used — including the healing room that once grounded her and supported her work.

Living among exposed construction, boxes, and constant disruption has made real rest and sleep nearly impossible.

Over the past several years, Karen also carried a heavy load. She cared for her father through illness frequently traveling across the state to do so, managed his affairs after his passing, and handled the emotional and physical work that followed. She did this quietly, often requiring her to put her own needs last.

Over time, that accumulated stress took a toll on her health.

This fundraiser is being organized by close friends and family, with Karen’s consent, to help restore her home to a fully livable and organized space.

The intention is simple: to remove the physical and environmental burdens she has been carrying so her nervous system can settle, her body can heal, and she can feel peace in her own home again. In time, this will also allow her to return to the work she loves, when she is truly ready.

How the funds will be used

Donations will help cover:

• Completing necessary home repairs after flood damage

• Flooring, drywall, and finishing work

• Professional help to organize and restore the living space

• Re-creating a calm, supportive environment that allows rest and healing

The fundraising goal of $35,000 reflects an estimated cost to return Karen’s home to a safe, functional, and supportive place to live. Any funds raised will be used for these purposes, whether or not the full goal is reached.

Out of respect for Karen’s privacy, specific health details will not be shared publicly. What matters most right now is removing the external stressors that have made healing so difficult and allowing her the conditions she needs to recover.
