Help restore Jessica's hearing
This is Jessica and she desperately needs an operation to restore her hearing.
Jessica has a rare genetic condition that affects her muscles and growth, and she has autism. It now looks like her ears are affected too. She's only four years old and the doctors are worried because she's at a critical point in her development. She needs to be able to hear the world around her.
Up until now, we thought Jessica was ignoring us or shouting because of her autism. Now we know it's because she's deaf.
Due to her genetic condition, it took Jessica twice as long to walk and talk compared to other kids her age. Now we need to fight to make sure she doesn't fall behind and isn't set back because of her ears.
Why we need your help
The underfunded NHS won't be able to operate on Jessica's ears for over a year. In this time, her specialist is gravely concerned that her her deafness will delay Jessica's development and learning, at a critical time in her life. She already has to fight extra hard, without this added disability.
We just can't wait. The only option we have is to go private but it's really expensive.
More about Jessica's story
Jessica is my niece, she likes pretending to be the number 18 and she's an absolute legend. She was adopted at 18 months by my sister and her wife. Another couple had already turned Jessica down because of her disabilities. But these two amazing women could see this kid was a superstar.
Jessica's big sister is called Tia. Like Jessica, she's adopted and just like Jessica, she has disabilities and is another superstar. So many prospective parents skip over kids with additional needs. If only they knew who they were missing out on.
Thanks to my sis and sis-in-law, we're one loving, happy family.
If anyone deserves your help, it's these guys. They've dedicated their lives to adopting and raising two beautiful children and they fight every day to give those kids everything they need.
Thanks for helping us.
You're incredible.
