My name is Tammie Printup and I’m reaching out to ask for your help. My mom, Mattie, and I are facing overwhelming challenges that have stretched us to our limits. We have run out of funding, and it has been incredibly difficult to navigate health care while managing urgent home repairs. The stress has been so intense that it has affected our sleep, which in turn impacts our ability to heal, recover, and enjoy life. My mom deserves to rest in her golden years without worrying about whether her home is safe.
Unfortunately, my own health has added to the challenge. I have been managing congestive heart failure resulting from an aortic aneurysm, which requires ongoing monitoring and care. And then on April 4, 2025, I was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS), which was later confirmed to be Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage II, Triple-Negative Breast Cancer. I am currently undergoing one of the most intensive chemotherapy treatment protocols, which at times causes significant side effects and periods of illness. I am also This has limited my ability to continue maintaining our home and daily responsibilities due to medical procedures and recovery.
Mattie’s Story
Mattie was happily married to the love of her life, Noah, for over 45 years before failing health took a toll in August 2019. After his passing, Mom fell into a deep depression and struggled to manage her household and care for herself. Over the years, many home repairs were delayed, and by 2023, her health had begun to decline, requiring hospitalization.
My younger sister tried to manage as caregiver, but her own family responsibilities, full-time job, and long commute made it overwhelming. I moved in with Mom to help full-time and discovered the true extent of the home’s needs.
Over two years, with volunteer help from family, friends, and ministry partners, we completed many of these repairs. Mom’s health improved, but she suffered serious complications after receiving a pacemaker in March 2025, including ICU care, dialysis, and additional surgeries. By April 2025, through prayer and perseverance, she was home again. Now, at 90 years old, she is making remarkable progress in her recovery. However, the remaining repairs have worsened, making our home unsafe.
The work we urgently need includes:
Handicap-accessible ramp
Replacement of gutters, fascia boards, and soffits
Electrical repairs and wiring replacement
French drain to prevent yard water buildup
Mold-remediated room: drywall, carpet, patio door, and light fixtures
Kitchen flooring replacement
Window and screen replacement
Front yard pipes, tree, and stump removal to prevent sewage backups
Due to my cancer diagnosis at almost 63, I have depleted my savings on prior repairs and lost my primary source of income, a contract position with strict work requirements that I could no longer maintain while undergoing treatment. I am unable to manage the stress and physical demands of these urgent repairs on my own.
How You Can Help
Your donation will directly help us create a safe, healthy, and livable home for my mom and me. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to stability, peace of mind, and the ability to focus on healing.
We are grateful for your support, prayers, and generosity during this difficult time. Thank you for helping us restore safety, comfort, and hope to our home.
Warm regards,
Tammie Printup
