Help Restore the Lives and Homes in Roan Mountain Together

I am heartbroken for the Eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina communities. As you may or may not know, we have a property in Roan Mountain which is a small town in Eastern Tennessee. This is a beautiful area to live and enjoy the sheer beauty of God's creation. Living in Florida for some time, I know how hurricanes can be. The sheer devastation is something I never thought I would see in our small mountain town.

With that being said, the town is not how I left it. This poor town has been devastated and I would like to help them in any way I can. The entire town has been flooded and many people have lost everything they have. The people here are the core of the community. Many of the residents are kind, hard working people whose families have lived there for generations. They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Their lives have been turned upside down. Roads, bridges, livestock and homes have been washed away. Many in the Eastern TN and Western NC area have also lost pets and loved ones to the floods.

We have a connection to a local church that we know and are collecting assistance for the people of Roan Mountain. Instead of choosing a more mainstream donation site like the Red Cross or something similar, I ask you to go a more grass roots style for this. I want the people of this town to see the money right away and not to have red tape to fight through. I want their homes restored and their way of life to return back to normal as soon as possible. Many did not have flood insurance and will not be able to sustain and rebuild as quickly as one could hope. Others are missing loved ones and the area as a whole has seen a great loss of life.

My heart breaks for this community. I ask you if you are reading this in the comfort of your home and sleeping comfortably in your bed tonight, please consider donating to the people of this town.
