Help After House Fire & Severe Hoarding Cleanup
Our family is asking for help after a devastating house fire at a home owned by my mother-in-law (Beth LaPorte/Folsom). The house was being rented out, and sadly the property was left in extreme condition. In addition to fire and smoke damage, the home is filled with garbage and debris piled nearly three feet deep throughout, creating a dangerous hoarding situation.
We are raising funds specifically to cover the cost of approximately seven large dumpsters needed to remove the massive amount of trash and damaged belongings so cleanup and restoration can begin.
What makes this situation especially heartbreaking is that these tenants were not strangers — they were my mother-in-law’s friends for over 15 years. During that time, she helped them whenever she could, including providing rides, food, and help with their children. She never raised their rent during the 12 years they lived in the home, and when the wife/mother passed away in October, she even forgave all of their back rent to help them during that loss.
Now, following the fire, the former tenants have stopped responding to our calls and messages. We want to give them the opportunity to retrieve any personal belongings they may want, but the lack of communication has caused further delays during an already overwhelming and emotional time.
Unfortunately, my mother-in-law had fallen on hard times herself and did not have homeowners insurance this past year. She is now facing these massive cleanup costs alone, and the expense is more than she can manage.
All donations will go directly toward:
Dumpster rentals
Safe removal of trash and debris
Making the home accessible for further repairs
We have included photos to show the true condition of the home. While difficult to share, they help explain the urgency and scale of this cleanup.
Any amount helps, and if you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean so much to our family. Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
