Help Restore Hegewisch Babe Ruth Baseball Field

Hi my name is Kathy Fox and I am the secretary of Hegewisch Babe Ruth Baseball on the Southeast Side of Chicago. Today I come to ask for your help in the repair costs to fix the baseball field.

On May 13th Hegewisch Babe Ruth baseball concession area was hit by a vehicle driven by Ms. A. Williams, who stated she had a medical condition that caused her to lose control of her car crashing into the concession area of Hegewisch Babe Ruth resulting in about 5000.00 of damages. She was transported to the hospital for evaluation but had left the hospital before police could issue citations for the damages and for driving with no insurance.

Rick Jendra, President of the league, reach out to her to Ms. Williams about making restitution. She assured and promised that she would cover all repairs. She also stated to him that her employer, would help cover the cost as she was on assignment at the time of the accident.

Since that initial conversations she has quit taking calls or returning calls from Mr. Jendra leaving us no choice but to ask for help from you.

The damages that were sustained were the fence outside of concession stand, our water system used for watering the field and providing water to the concession stand, 2 grills that are needed for game days, and some damage to the field fence. It is estimated to be about 5000.00 in expenses. The league does not have the means necessary to cover all these repairs and we are hoping that you would consider donating to help us repair everything by the damages she caused by driving without insurance.

We are happy that no games were taking place that day, that no kids were on the field nor anyone working in concession as things could have been quite different.

Hegewisch Babe Ruth Baseball has been in our town for the last 56 years giving teenagers a safe place to play the sport they love. We are hoping you can help us out and get it back to a safe, secure place.
