Help restore Happy Lemon Tree Lodge

The monsoon has arrived in Nepal, and with what a fury. You really come to understand that global warming is creating horrible consequences especially in places that already struggle.
Big parts of Nepal are struck by the heavy rainfall causing flooding and multiple landslides. Dharmik and other people cited at the riverbank saw the water of the Rapti river continuously rising 2 days ago. Resulting in the complete flooding of our precious and recently rebuilded place, it happened so quick, and came as a total surprise. The water came until knee-height and with this entering the downstairs rooms, the kitchen, the bar, the bathrooms and the complete terrace. yesterday morning the water started withdrawal a little, still covering up parts of our terrace and garden.

Therefore I like to reach out to you, our friends, family, former guests and others who might want to help out. Dharmik and I rebuild the place the last year as it was destroyed by heavy weather conditions in 2017. We put all our saving in our project to make an cozy environmental responsible lodge were we would only use organic materials for our building process or reuse existing materials to eventually try to create this ‘slow travelling’ project.
Not only us, but also many others helped to create something beautiful and meaningful out of that place. Now it seems that our Happy Lemontree lodge did not only lose its lemontrees, but also experienced way more severe damage.
The whole premises is covered in in a 30 centimeter layer of mud, in the rooms, the bar, the kitchen, bathrooms etc. Because almost everything is constructed out of bamboo and bamboomats, we have to replace quite some materials. Some parts of the retaining walls did collapse or slipped away. Electrics has been damaged and the fridge also did not survive.
Places have to be repainted and doors have to be replaced. But first this all-covering layer of mud have to be removed now. However, we have very limited resources and we would incredible grateful if you could contribute a little to the reconstruction of the place. So if would be amazing if you can leave a donation, any donation, to help restoring the Happy Lemon Tree Lodge.

Grote delen van Nepal worden getroffen door de hevige regenval die overstromingen en verschillende aardverschuivingen veroorzaakt. De regio Terai waar wij ons bevinden, wordt ook zwaar getroffen door de regen. Dharmik en andere aan de rivier wonende inwoners van Sauraha, zagen het water van de Rapti-rivier gistermiddag voortdurend stijgen. Met het gevolg ; de volledige overstroming van een dierbaar en onlangs opnieuw opgebouwd plekje. Het gebeurde allemaal zo snel en kwam als een totale verrassing. Het water kwam tot kniehoogte betrad zo de kamers op de begane grond, de keuken, de bar, de badkamers en het complete terras. Vanochtend begon het water wat terug te trekken, terwijl het nog steeds delen van ons terras en de tuin bedekte.
Daarom willen we nu uitreiken naar onze vrienden, familie, voormalige gasten en anderen die misschien willen helpen. Dharmik en ik hebben het afgelopen jaar een plek onder handen genomen die werd verwoest door zware weersomstandigheden in 2017. We hebben al onze energie en geld in ons project gestopt om een gezellige milieuvriendelijke lodge te creëren. We zouden alleen organische materialen gebruiken voor ons bouwproces en uiteindelijk proberen dit 'slow-travellingr' project verbeteren. Niet alleen wij, maar ook vele anderen hebben geholpen om iets moois en betekenisvols te creëren op die plek. Nu lijkt het erop dat onze Happy Lemontree-loge niet alleen zijn Lemon Trees verloor, maar ook ernstige schade ondervond.
Ons hele pand is bedekt met een 30 centimeter dikke laag modder, in de kamers, de bar, de keuken, badkamers etc. Omdat bijna alles is opgebouwd uit bamboe, bamboematten en klei, moeten we behoorlijk wat materialen vervangen. Sommige delen van de retainingwall zijn ingestort of weggevaagd. Elektrische onderdelen beschadigd en de koelkast heeft het ook niet overleefd. Plekken moeten opnieuw worden geschilderd en deuren moeten worden vervangen. Maar eerst moet deze volledig dekkende modderlaag worden verwijderd.
Nu hebben we echter zeer beperkte financiële middelen en zouden we dus ongelooflijk dankbaar zijn als je een beetje zou kunnen bijdragen aan de reconstructie van deze plek. Het zou geweldig zijn, als je een (kleine)donatie wilt achterlaten om de Happy Lemon Tree Lodge te helpen herstellen.
