Help restore electrical utilities!

For several years, due to failing health and a lack of insurance, I accrued an overwhelming amount of medical debt which translated to less than stellar credit. As a result, when I set up service at my apartment with LADWP, I was charged astronomical 'security deposit' fees. Additionally, they connected the service to the wrong unit and, when I notified them, they insisted that it was my fault (I'm pretty sure I know what myunit number is) and charged yet ANOTHER fee to switch the service to the appropriate unit. Although I paid my service charges, I was unable to cope with these fees and so they accrued and it culminated in LADWP refusing to work with me on it; instead they completely shut off my electrical service.

Earlier this year, after years of battling illness, I was finally diagnosed with carcinoid syndrome (carcinoid is a rare type of neuroendocrine cancer) and have since been undergoing all sorts of tests and procedures related to the condition. Part of the condition results in severe, drenching night sweats. To ty to remain comfortable and cope, I have to run my AC in my tiny apartment 24/7. I am now unable to do that. The condition also causes heat intolerance, and as we know Los Angeles can get pretty warm! LADWP showed zero interest to work with me in light of my condition and told me "If it's that bad, call 911 for an ambulance"

The condition also causes other debilitating symptoms including dangerous spikes in blood pressure and heart rate, flushing, patches of itching due to histamine release, wheezing and shortness of breath due to bronchoconstriction, severe diarrhea, intestinal/abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, and severe headaches. Together, this cluster of symptoms makes it very difficult to work consistently and as such I can just barely cover my living expenses but am in no way prepared for such a massive, sudden expense.

In addition to my own needs, I also share my apartment with three dogs, one of which is a cancer survivor who requires a specialized fresh diet to maintain optimal health. I need to have a working refrigerator to store the meat and other ingredients needed to make his meals. I spend all of my energy and effort to give these three dogs the best life possible and I want to continue to do so as they are my best friends and my biggest source of comfort during this illness.

This fund is to help turn the service back on and zero out any deposits, penalties, and additional fees that have been added so that I can resume having electricity and the comfort that comes from this basic utility.

In the rare chance that this campaign exceeds its funding goal, any additional funds will go towards helping with various other expenses, such as hospital parking fees (these add up FAST!) and general household bills to ease the stress of living paycheck to paycheck and help me to better focus on healing, going to my various doctor's appointments, and coping with this illness.

To anyone who takes the time to donate and offer support during this difficult time, thank you from not only me but also my three rescue dogs. We appreciate all the love and support that we have received and continue to receive from our dear friends and loved ones during this extremely difficult situation, not just with the electrical company but with this illness as a whole.
