Help Sylvan Learning restore education funds for NY students

My name is Audrey Waterfield. My husband John and I own the Sylvan Learning Centers of Glenville and Wilton, NY. I'm raising money to replace the federal tutoring funds that were taken away by the US Department of Education (USDOE).

Our Sylvan Learning Centers have been providing tutoring services for local schools during the 2024-2025 school year paid for by federal funding. In February of 2025, the NYS Department of Education received approval to extend the use of these federal tutoring funds until June of 2025. Based on this approval, we hired additional teachers and created new tutoring schedules to accommodate the students' needs.

Many of these students have seen significant improvement in the short time we've been working with them. With just a little more work, may students could finally catch up to grade level expectations. Unfortunately, on Friday, March 28th, after the close of business, the USDOE, "changed its mind" and reversed their approval effective as of that day. Teachers and counselors not only lost their jobs, but neither parents nor their children were given any notice or reason as to why their academic support system vanished within a moment. The Government stealing the student's access to these necessary services, when the contract only had 3 months left, seems like an uniformed and cruel act.
