After fighting lupus, RA, and other medical issues for most of his life, Danny is finally experiencing a glimmer of hope with a remission period. This could last days, months, or years, but we are thankful for whatever time he is given. Unfortunately, after several years on harsh medications and treatments, it has taken its toll on his dental health. He has been slowly losing teeth, and now it's hit a breaking point.
Not only will he need complete extractions and dentures for his entire mouth, but the infection is so bad in some places it is pushing on his sinus cavity. The dentist and the oral surgeon have informed us that we need to take action sooner than later before this starts affecting his heart health and vision.
Danny is currently on Medicare and receives a small monthly income to live on through disability. This isn't even close to what is needed to survive, let alone pay for the surgery. He does have a VERY small amount of coverage through Medicare that was recently decreased due to budget cuts, but it is up to him to cover the rest before they will start the procedures. He does not qualify for payments or financing since his monthly income is so low. This forces us into asking for help from our friends and family to cover dental costs.
