On March 12, a major landslide devastated my wife Jenny’s community, destroying six potable drinking water wells. The slide buried the well infrastructure and pumps, leaving multiple families without safe, reliable access to drinking water—including the shared community well built during COVID by Farmer’s Coffee, #Heatherstrong, and many of our family and friends.
Today, families are boiling rainwater to get by. But the rainy season is ending soon, and when it does, Jenny’s family and their neighbours will be left without readily available drinking water.
We are raising funds to:
- Build a rainwater capture, storage, and filtration system for Jenny’s direct family, reducing dependence on vulnerable dug wells; and
- Support surrounding families with critical materials—pumps, hoses, cement, and bricks—to help them construct new potable water wells.
Every dollar makes a difference and goes directly toward restoring access to clean water where it’s urgently needed.
As a small thank‑you, anyone who donates over $25 is invited to stop by the Farmer’s Chocolate booth this summer at the Owen Sound Farmer’s Market for a free chocolate bar (while supplies last).
We are deeply grateful to our broad and international community for your ongoing support. If you have any questions or would like more details, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for helping turn this crisis into resilience.
