Hi, my name is Gudrun, and I’m the owner of Crescent Moon, a beloved retreat known as 'Moonies,' outside Crescent Head. I’ve lived on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales for the past four years and in that time, I have developed a deep respect for the land and its people .
Since founding Crescent Moon, my fiancee Kevin, and I have dedicated ourselves to regenerating the property with the help of a few kindred souls. We have planted over a thousand natives, improved soil health and tried to create a space where guests and volunteers can connect with the land and sea of Dunghutti Country.
The current floods are devastating. We’ve lost our shed, storeroom, caravans, tools, fertiliser, appliances, almost all our farm machinery and our natives have been damaged or washed away. While some of our losses may be covered by insurance, much of what’s essential to our work and livelihood is not. As a result, Crescent Moon will be closed for June, while we focus on recovery.
I’m raising funds to support this effort and in particular, to care for the volunteers who have generously offered their time to help us clean up. All of the funds, which I will share transparently, will go towards:
Providing nourishing meals for our volunteers
Replanting native trees and flora
Replacing essential tools and equipment to help regenerate the land
Repairing damaged infrastructure around the property
We have always described Crescent Moon as a community and over the past week, we've been touched by the number of guests who have reached out to offer their condolences and time. If you’ve stayed with us before or believe in the importance of environmental projects such as ours, we’d be grateful for your support. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us move forward. And if you’re unable to give right now, sharing this fundraiser with your network would be appreciated.
With your help, we can regenerate this beautiful land together.
