Hello, good people! You may have heard that our friend, resident and business owner, Monica Ann, has had some health problems recently…on top of that, she is trying to save the historic building in which her business is located.
I wanted to take the opportunity to say that this building means something!
This building has been a staple of our community for a 190 years!! Alexander Chamberlain established Rochester’s first tavern-hotel in 1835 at this locale (128 E. 8th).
John Chamberlain, one of the world’s, foremost, metal sculptures also spent his childhood there!
Nearly 200 years of upholding a tradition of hospitality and community! You dont find that too often these days.
All this to say, it’s not just brick and mortar…those walls saw the beginning of our community and the spirit that built Rochester.
It’s our history, our story…time has taken a toll but it is worth preserving, in my opinion.
It’s just disheartening to think of losing another piece of our shared history to a piece of pavement.

We are reaching out in need of help with preserving our historic Chamberlain building location, now known as Putts Bar and Grill. A structure since the town's founding is now at risk due to structural issues, particularly on the east side of the location, which are unsightly and dangerous.
If we do not reach our goal, we are at risk of possible closure and possible destruction of our location, leading to a loss of Rochester's history and our community.
