UPDATE: The Fight for Justice Continues

We want to thank each and every person who has shared, donated or reached out with words of encouragement. Your support has been a light in this dark journey, and we truly appreciate it.

As many of you know, my late grandmother, Cecelia Jenkins, was preyed upon by individuals she met through the COGIC church. The Evangelist who orchestrated this fraud was affiliated with a COGIC church at the time, and under guise of faith and trust, she manipulated my grandmother into handing over control of her finances. My grandmother was defrauded out of nearly $100,000, and the home she worked so hard for was left in complete disrepair.

Despite my mother's multiple attempts to reach out for accountability, COGIC leadership--both at the state and national levels--has remained silent. They have ignored the damage done by one of the their own, failing to acknowledge or address the harm caused to my grandmother and our family.

What's worse in the the financial institutions involved enabled this fraud to happen.
  • They allowed the Evangelist to conduct mortgage and insurance claim transactions in my grandmother's name--without securing proper written authorizations.
  • They failed to enforce the standard safeguards that should have protected a vulnerable senior from financial exploitation.
  • They processed high-risk transactions without raising any red flags, even though the sights of fraud were there.

This was not just one person's wrongdoing--it was a system-wide failure.

Adding insult to injury, law enforcement has yet to hold these individuals accountable. Despite the clear evidence of fraud and financial abuse, those responsible for exploiting my grandmother remain unpunished. Meanwhile, my mother is left to fight this battle alone--to seek justice for her mother and to prevent this from happening to anyone else's loved one.

My mom needs your help. Time is running out to hold these individuals and institutions accountable. If you believe in protecting our elders, standing against fraud and demanding justice, please consider donating, sharing this update and raising awareness.

My grandmother deserved better. All of our elders do.

My mother is looking to raise fund to seek justice for my late grandmother. She passed away nine months after my grandfather, a veteran and former pastor. Shortly before her passing, my grandmother, who was 78-years-old, was manipulated by trusted members of her church into taking out a mortgage on her home for renovations. These trusted members included a deacon and his wife, an evangelist. They had my grandmother transfer more than $100,000 into their own accounts, and never finished the renovations.

Since my grandmother's passing in April, my mom has had to face the grief of losing both parents while also fighting for justice for the financial abuse of my grandmother. Despite reporting this situation to authorities, no meaningful action has been taken. Now, she is determined to continue the fight on my grandmother's behalf, not only to recover what was stolen but also to protect other seniors from falling victim to similar schemes.

My family believes that these members of her church have likely targeted other vulnerable individuals and will continue to do so unless they are stopped.

We are asking for help to raise funds so that my mom can maintain legal representation and to restore my grandmother's home, which was left unsafe and incomplete.

Any amount you are able to donate, will be appreciated. If you are unable to donate at this time, we ask that you please consider sharing this with others. The more people who hear this story, the more likely we are to reach our goal.

We are documenting this journey on YouTube , where you can follow the details of this fraud and our efforts to hold those responsible accountable.
