Help Restore Big Al's BBQ and Martin Ranch

I am helping raise funds for Big Al’s Bent Creek BBQ, and the Martin Ranch, both of which are owned and operated by Alex Martin. As I am sure you are aware, Hurricane Helene has impacted a large area of the South East throughout Tennessee and North Carolina. Sadly, the recent floods caused by Hurricane Helene have cost Alex his home, his farm, and all means of income from his business which was run from the farm.

Alex has made a lasting impact on my family, and the surrounding community with his love for teaching and sharing his skills and knowledge. The farm was not only his home but a place that he would hold classes to teach the lost arts of the Appalachian people. My children have learned first hand how to cook on an open fire in cast iron, raise goats, keep chickens, tend horse, weld, repair farm equipment, and many more valuable skills that aren’t taught in this day and age.

The devastation caused by the floods has taken everything that Alex owns, except his spirit and desire to help those in need. While Alex is struggling to rebuild, he is continually assisting others in the community with their needs, often passing on supplies that are provided to him to help the community and those less fortunate in his eyes. Even with a total loss Alex has continued to spread love to those around him and I would like to encourage the community to do the same for him.

We are looking to raise $75,000 to help Alex rebuild. The funds will be used to repair buildings and structures of the farm, replace lost equipment needed to run and operate the catering business, to replace the livestock that was lost, and many more needs that Alex has.
