Friends of Belleview, started by the residents of Sherman, Missouri, is committed to restoring Belleview Farm Park, a Wildwood, MO park. Originally established by the Minckes, one of the earliest families in Sherman, Belleview was donated to St. Louis County by its last owner, environmentalist Harold Donnelly, on the condition that it remain a wildlife and nature preserve.
We have been working on the park since 2019. In partnership with the City of Wildwood, the Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri Master Naturalists, Open Space Council, and the St. Louis Sierra Club, 50 of its 100 acres have been cleared of honeysuckle and other invasives. Five acres of native prairie restoration are in process. We have logged thousands of hours in 6 years, enough to help Wildwood attain the match for the most recent MDC grant which paid for 25 acres to be cleared of honeysuckle last winter. We hold workdays monthly from November through May.
Our costs are minimal - $1000/yr for insurance and supplies.
With your help, we can continue restoring this beautiful park.
