Standing Together to Protect Our Sacred Masjid

Salamalakum Brothers and Sisters,

I reach out today with heavy heart but unwavering resolve to seek your support in a critical matter affecting our beloved mosque and community.

Two individuals who grew up in this very masjid—family men with children, whose spiritual journeys began within these walls—have been unjustly targeted with false and vexatious claims by the trustees and operations manager.

They were commissioned by the previous management committee to investigate claims of abuse of imam, violations of the KMA constitution and various other violations within the masjid.

When they systematically gathered evidence of financial mismanagement and others abuses, including the abuse of the imam, the trustees responded by spending approximately £95,000 of our mosque's funds to obtain an injunction against them, victimising them for taking part in the investigation.

Our Personal Sacrifice

• This struggle has come at tremendous personal cost:

• We have exhausted over £60,000 of our personal funds

• Dedicated 3.5 years of our lives to this cause

• Taken significant time away from work and family

• Meticulously gathered and verified evidence

• Explored every possible avenue to resolve this matter amicably and inhouse

Despite these sacrifices, the injunction remains, and those responsible for mismanagement continue to operate without oversight.

A Matter of Community Reputation and Moral Standing

Our masjid represents all of us—it stands as a symbol of our values, our ethics, and our commitment to justice. Yet currently, our community is being perceived as negligent, and indifferent to moral injustice. This perception damages not only our standing but the reputation of Muslims more broadly.

Through collective action, we have the power to change this narrative. By standing together against mismanagement and corruption, we demonstrate to the wider society that Muslims do not tolerate injustice, even—especially—within our own institutions. Transparency is our ally in this struggle for accountability.

Our Clear Plan of Action

With your support, we will take the following concrete steps:

Appeal against the unjust ruling of the county court that banned two individuals for 10 years—individuals who were officially instructed by the committee to investigate serious allegations of fraud, money laundering, and staff abuse

Challenge the lower court's blanket decision that treated two separate individuals as one entity, failing to consider their individual circumstances and roles

Engage an expert law firm to elevate this matter to the High Court where it can receive the serious consideration it deserves

Petition the court to appoint independent investigators to thoroughly examine the activities of both previous and current trustees

Ensure that once an independent investigation is completed, the true perpetrators will be identified and held accountable under the law
