Help Restore a Destroyed Non-Profit Center for Children ❣️

The Foundation for Sustainable Families has existed for over a decade and in that time, we have never experienced such significant loss as an organization and a community.

Hurricane Helene killed more than 40 people and left millions without power or clean water in Florida. The 200+ families we serve were deeply impacted by flooding, fires, and many lost everything. Our offices, grounds, preschool, counseling spaces and gardens sustained flooding and catastrophic wind damage. Several of our buildings will require demolition, and staff and volunteers are working tirelessly to salvage what we can.

Sadly, we have lost our donation garage, full of clothing, toiletries, and basic necessities for families in need. All of our refrigerators were flooded or without power for many days resulting in a complete loss of food distributed to children.

Both rooms of our preschool classrooms flooded and all furnishings were destroyed—rugs, bookshelves, books, games, toys, desks, chairs, dollhouses, sensory stations, cubbies, and more. ️✏️

Outside we lost all wooden play equipment, benches, and our large playground gym. Our garden beds and edible plants were washed away.

While insurance may cover some of the structural damage of the buildings (walls and flooring to be removed), they will not cover any contents or replace donation supplies we have spent years gathering.

Our offices have always been a safe refuge for children and families. We hope to be able to restore our facilities as quickly as possible so that we may continue to support the children and families most in need in our community. We can’t do this without your help!
