Help Rebuild My 97-Year-Old Aunt’s Home in Jamaica After Hurricane Melissa
Our family is heartbroken and humbly asking for help.
My 97-year-old aunt, my grandmother’s last living sibling, has lost everything after Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica. Her home, her belongings, the place she has lived and built memories in for almost a century… all gone.
She lived in that home with her daughter and her two granddaughters, and in one night, everything they owned was destroyed. They have been staying at a neighbor’s house since the storm, sleeping wherever they can, with only the clothes they managed to escape in. As grateful as we are for the kindness shown to them, this is temporary. They have nowhere stable to go and at her age, in fragile health, she cannot be without a safe and secure place to live.
Our family is doing everything we can and pooling our resources, but we cannot rebuild alone. We created this GoFundMe to help rebuild her home and help her regain a sense of dignity, safety, and comfort after losing a lifetime of memories and stability.
If you are able to give, no matter the amount, please know that it will go directly toward rebuilding a home for her and her family. And if you cannot donate, prayers, shares, and simply keeping our family in your thoughts means more than we can say.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us support our aunt, our family, and our roots in Jamaica during this unimaginable time.
