In August 2022 we took on the lease for a shop, something we had dreamed about since we started in 2020. Unfortunately due to a corrupt landlord this dream soon became a nightmare when our shop started leaking in September 2022. The leak was only small to start with and the landlord appeared to be willing to sort it, however as the leak got worse between September 2022 and December 2022 it became apparent that the landlord was dragging there feet at getting it fixed. Between December 2022 and June 2023 we were calling the agency almost daily to try and get the leak fixed. Finally in June 2023 the ceiling collapsed in our shop leaving it unusable. We then started a lengthy legal battle to try and get out of our 5 year lease, the eventually agreed to do so, but we had to wait 6 months. This then left us with a shop we couldn't open and the council removed our 75% small business rates reduction leaving us with a £14,000 bill, which we have no way of paying on top of almost £10,000 in damaged stock, and £5000 in damaged equipment . Thankfully we went LTD when we got the shop to protect us personally. We are now having to liquidate the LTD meaning we will loose the majority of what we have left. Thankfully we can salvage somethings that I bought when self employed but this is not enough to restart with.
We are hoping to raise enough money to restart Whimsical as self employed again and get back to doing what we love. Those that have seen us grow over the last few years know how much Whimsical and its customers means to us.
We have never taken out a loan or grant for Whimsical, so it is taking a lot to be here asking for help, So we would be extremely grateful for any help given and promise to bring Whimsical back, better, more focused and organised.
Thank you so much if you've gotten this far.
