Help Rest My Dad
Donation protected
If you asked me two weeks ago if I would be writing a fundraiser for my dad's funeral, I would laugh, because today was the day my dad was supposed to return home from rehabilitation for a broken leg. Mark Richards, my dad, who’s only 49, was supposed to be back home in time for my mom’s birthday at the end of this october. My dad, who was supposed to be home to see me graduate from school. My dad who was waiting so long to see our dog.
I don’t even know what to do, or say here but that man in the picture fought for a long long time to be around for me. My dad was extremely sick, and first it started with diabetes but after a while, it just breaks your body down. He tried every day, no matter how many medicines he had to take, no matter how many doctors he had to see, no matter how worse it got. No matter when he started dialysis, he never gave up on his family.
My dad always goes into the hospital, but a week later, he's still sick, and he always makes it back. Everyone knows that, But this time, it feels like a nightmare. He said he was fine, his leg was only broken, and since we had stairs, he didn't have the strength to walk up them. He only had to go to rehab for a few weeks. He was fine; he said he was fine. I asked him so many times. But he always said he was tired and that he wanted to go home.
I am shocked and lost. Looking at him. I'm thinking he's going to wake up. This is my dad. He always wakes up. My mom and I weren’t prepared for this because he was supposed to be okay. I don’t know how to do these kinds of things without my dad but I’m raising the money for my dad to be sent off peacefully. This is hard. Anything is helpful. Please, my dad was my best friend, and I want to send him off well. Thank you for your support.
