In November 2023, my girlfriend’s family in Ecuador opened their hearts and their home to a neglected street cat who had known nothing but hardship. For the first time in his life, he had safety, warmth, and love. He quickly became family—gentle, affectionate, and always curling up to cuddle with their other cat, Misha. His little pink tongue even sticks out all the time, a silly quirk that makes everyone smile.

But recently, their joy turned to heartbreak. After troubling signs and rounds of testing, the vet confirmed devastating news: he has Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV), severe anemia, and liver weakness. FeLV is incurable, contagious, and cruel. Without treatment, his health will fade quickly. And now even Misha may be at risk, as her test also showed early signs of the disease.

The only way to give him comfort and more time is through regular IV fluids, immune boosters, and medication. The vet has a plan, but the costs are overwhelming. Currently, their household of four lives on a single modest income in a country where a full day’s labor brings home only $20—barely enough for food and essentials, let alone lifesaving veterinary care.

I’ve been doing all I can—even picking up a second job to cover the initial testing and medicine—but the ongoing costs are too heavy for us to carry alone on top of other recent financial setbacks. What this gentle soul needs is bigger than what one family can provide.

That’s why I’m asking for your help. Every single donation, no matter the size, goes directly to medication, vet visits, and treatments that will keep him comfortable and give him more time to feel the love he’s only just begun to know. Together, we can make sure this sweet rescue doesn’t lose his chance at life so soon.
