Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Your support is already making a real difference for the animals suffering after Hurricane Melissa. Here’s a quick breakdown of how your contributions will be used:

Emergency Food & Water

To feed the many malnourished dogs we’re finding in Santa Cruz and Black River.

Medical Care

Deworming, flea/tick treatment, antibiotics, vaccinations, wound care, and hydration. All veterinary services are coordinated through Value Vets Clinic with Dr. Smythe.

Transportation & Rescue Operations

To move supplies, reach remote communities, pick up donated items, and transport injured animals safely.

Temporary Shelter

Crates, bedding, tarps, and safe spaces for recovery—especially for nursing mothers and puppies.

On-Ground Support

Two team members in Jamaica are actively rescuing dogs on behalf of Small Paws Big Hearts Rescue until I arrive.

Funds also support long-term rehabilitation and rehoming.

My name is Jeffrey James, and I am the founder of Small Paws Big Hearts Rescue Inc., a registered nonprofit organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (EIN: 92-3813942).

I was born and raised in Jamaica, and my heart breaks seeing the devastation Hurricane Melissa has caused to my homeland. Families have lost everything — and so have their beloved pets. Many dogs are now stranded, injured, and displaced, wandering the streets hungry, frightened, and alone.

Through Small Paws Big Hearts Rescue, I am organizing an Animal Relief Fund to help provide emergency food, water, medical care, transportation, and safe shelter for the dogs and small animals left homeless after the storm.

The funds raised will be used to:

1. Purchase and ship pet food, clean water, and medical supplies to Jamaica.

2. Support local rescuers and volunteers caring for stranded animals.

3. Rebuild damaged kennels and temporary shelters.

4. Provide transportation and veterinary services for injured or sick dogs.

I am personally overseeing the coordination of this effort through trusted partners and animal advocates in Jamaica. 100% of funds raised will go directly toward animal relief and recovery efforts.
