My name is Bee and I have a self funded small pet rescue project that primarily assists pocket pets. I also volunteer closely with a local rabbit rescue and often am out weekly trapping abandoned pet rabbits. I dedicate my life to helping animals in need and right now, I need help saving one of them from a deadly condition called FIP.

On June 18 two cats were surrendered into my care, a 1 year old female tabby (Pearl), and a 3 month old orange kitten with crusty eyes and a respiratory infection. We named him Jasper.

Their owner was in a household where domestic violence occurred and knew the cats were not in an safe situation, and he was in need of vet care for respiratory illness. They asked for my help so the kittens could get the vet care they needed. I usually do not rescue cats but knew their situation was dire so I committed to helping them get vet care so I could later find them a forever home. I sought help from kitten rescues but none were able to intake them so i took responsibility for them.

He was seen by a veterinarian the day following being surrendered, for his weepy eyes and flea treatment / deworming. His eye condition progressed but then seemed to heal with eye drops / antibiotics. He seemed alert and in good spirits during this time

On Friday night Jasper’s condition suddenly took a serious turn. He became critically ill and needed emergency care.

Jasper arrived at Boundary Bay Animal Hospital in life threatening condition. His temperature was unreadable, his blood pressure dangerously low, and he required a blood transfusion for anemia. With medication, blood pressure improved, but he is still in a very critical state.

Jasper has tested negative for FeLV and FIV, and because of how critical his condition is, treatment for FIP has been started while awaiting confirmation. The medication alone cost $700 to initiate

Jasper’s vet required a $13,500 deposit for 3 days of intense hospitalization , I was only able to put down $9000 while awaiting loan approval etc. the vet needs the remaining deposit balance by the end of the day (Saturday July 18) to continue caring for him. I’ve put down every dollar I had access to in attempt to not delay treatment. The vet estimates he will need to be admitted for 7 days total for his treatment.

FIP used to be a 100% fatal condition but newly discovered treatments have made it something that can be overcome but often require intense hospitalization like what Jasper is receiving

Jasper seems to have a will to live, and he deserves the chance to recover and find a forever home. Any donation or share will help provide the care he needs and help Jasper continue his fight. The priority is raising $4000 to pay his deposit for the ER asap
