I recently travelled to Somalia, and what I saw broke my heart.

Everywhere I went, I saw animals suffering.

Dogs lying on the roadside, injured and left to die.

Cats with open wounds, struggling to survive.

Animals starving, weak, and completely forgotten.

There is no system to help them.

No shelters.

No rescue services.

No one to treat their injuries or protect them.

I couldn’t walk away.

I started helping with my own resources

Using my own money and time, I began feeding and caring for as many animals as I could—cats, dogs, and even tortoises.

I treated wounds where possible.

I gave food to those who were starving.

I tried to give them some form of safety, even if temporary.

But very quickly, the number of animals in need became overwhelming.

Every day there were more.

More injuries.

More suffering.

Now it has become too much for one person

I am doing everything I can—but I cannot continue alone.

I don’t have the space.

I don’t have the equipment.

I don’t have the resources to properly care for them.

Without urgent support, many of these animals will continue to suffer and die on the streets.

What We Plan to Build

Below is a simple design of the shelter we aim to build on donated land.

This is a practical, low-cost sanctuary designed to care for up to 200 animals safely and humanely.

The shelter will include:

Main Shelter Building

A simple, well-ventilated structure for cats and dogs, with separate safe areas.

Green Area for Small Animals

A natural, enclosed space for tortoises, rabbits, and other small animals to live safely.

Shaded Shelter (Open Shed)

A covered space for donkeys and larger animals to rest, protected from the sun.

Secure Fence & Gate

A fully enclosed area to keep animals safe and prevent harm.

The land for this project is expected to be donated locally, allowing funds to go directly into building and caring for the animals.

More than a shelter – a place of change

This shelter will also help change the future.

We will invite school children to visit and learn:

Compassion and responsibility

We will also go into schools and communities to raise awareness and speak for animals that have no voice.
