Help Rescue Husky Layla beat Cancer!

Spende geschützt
Three-year-old Layla was wandering the streets of Sacramento in distress on a scorching 113-degree summer day, when a volunteer with Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue came upon her by happenstance. Layla walked right up to her from the other side of the street, as if she was asking for help. Layla was filthy and flea-ridden, severely dehydrated and weak, her ribs protruding, and her fur was coming out in large clumps. Layla showed signs of having given birth many times before, a heartbreaking testament to the neglect she had endured. But despite her poor condition, Layla was extraordinarily loving and trusting. When Layla’s rescuer drove her home, Layla gently licked her face, then rested her head on her shoulder and fell asleep—finally safe. Somehow, she knew that despite the humans who had failed her before, this time would be different.

Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue immediately accepted this husky girl into their rescue program, and within days had a plan to rehabilitate her in a loving foster home, and get her healthy. Through their efforts, Layla gained back her energy and appetite, and soon found the adopter she had always deserved and was placed in a forever home. She bonded instantly with her new rescue sibling, and her devoted dad, Richard, who lovingly prepares her meals fresh daily and bathes her every week, with shampoo, *and* conditioner! With time, love, and care, her body healed—her beautiful coat returned, and she regained her strength. For the first time, Layla was living the happy life she was meant to have.

Then, just as Layla was settling in to her Happily Ever After, the worst happened. Despite all her progress, Layla suddenly declined. A devastating diagnosis followed: large cell lymphoma.

Richard has spent the last 25 years rescuing dogs, and he’s determined to give Layla the best chance at life. But after recently being laid off like many others, he can’t do it alone. It has already cost $5,000 to reach a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan, with total expenses expected to exceed $10,000.

Richard describes Layla as “the most loving and amazing dog anyone could ever know. If you came to visit, even as a stranger, she would run up to you with kisses, letting you know you are loved. That is who Layla is. My other dog, Mishka, has never been happier—they absolutely adore each other. The love we share is beyond words.”

Layla has endured so much, yet she has never stopped believing in people, and we want to live up to her hope in us. Please help us give her the fighting chance she deserves. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in her battle against cancer. And if you can’t give, please share her story—because Layla’s life is worth saving.

THANK YOU!
