Help Rescue & Heal Richmond’s Street Dog

Last week, while recovering from knee surgery, I came across a heartbreaking post on Nextdoor about a dog living on the streets of Richmond with his unhoused owner. The owner was asking passersby if they wanted to take his dog. At the same time, an amazing woman named Carly saw the post and immediately drove over to help. She took the dog in, even though she already has five large dogs at home. Carly is truly his angel!

Since then, I’ve been reaching out to my network to help with his medical needs and find a safe plan for him. I was able to cover his initial vet bill, where he was treated for a severe skin infection, ear infection, and malnutrition. The best news is that Family Dog Rescue in Sonoma—where my own beloved Patrick came from—has agreed to take him in. They work tirelessly for neglected and special needs dogs, and their support is a true godsend.

I’m reaching out to all of you to gather funds for Family Dog Rescue. Every rescue group is stretched thin right now, and for them to take on this special case is incredible. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly to Family Dog Rescue to help restore him to health and prepare him for adoption. Today, when I visited him, he started to show interest in playing—there’s finally hope in his tired spirit! I can’t wait to see how he blossoms with more love, safety, good nutrition, and a caring village behind him. Please help us give him the second chance he deserves!
