Abby is a seven year old hearing impaired pitty mix. I adopted her two years ago and she totally changed my life I really can't say enough about how special she is and how much she means to me and everyone she meets. The first week I had her she underwent a growth removal surgery which ended up having some cancerous cells but luckily they were able to remove it all. A few months ago I noticed a small lump on her side which began to grow. I made the decision to remove it as soon as the vet could fit her in for surgery. During her recovery her incision split open three times which came with more vet bills, medications, and missed work. Just as things started healing up nicely I got the news that the test results for the growth showed signs of stage 2 cancer and it had not been fully removed from her deeper muscle tissue during the surgery. Our next move will be ultra sounds and x-rays with a specialist to determine if it has spread to her liver, lungs, or anywhere else so that we can make a plan for the future and possible treatment options. This will all come with more time away from work and hefty vet bills. At this point anything helps! Before we found each other Abby was a stray, she spent five months in a kill shelter before coming up to Portland as a foster. This girl has had a hard life and deserves a chance at a happy healthy continued future.
