Help Rescue Daisy: Lost and Alone in Kansas

Donation protected
On May 25, 2025, little Daisy was on her "Freedom Ride" - a 900-mile trip to her new home... From Colorado to Illinois.

We hired a professional transport company to safely deliver her. But at the eastbound rest stop on I-70 near Ellsworth in Kansas (about halfway through the journey), the driver lost her when taking her out for a potty break. He stayed for a while, called the police, and then LEFT.

This transport company has since provided NO HELP - monetary or otherwise. We are entirely on our own and running low on funds.

We are hoping to raise some money for continual food supplies (we have to put out fairly large amounts 3-4 times a day because other animals end up finding it), fuel, trail cameras, professional services, and upcoming veterinary care.

Daisy was spotted on the other side of the highway shortly after the incident, but she was terrified and ran off. We have since had sightings of her every few days, so we have an idea of what area she's in. Sadly, it is "No Man's Land". Very barren and almost no people at all live there.

We have flyers everywhere in at least a 30 mile radius, and FB posts have now been shared over a thousand times. We reported her missing to police, Sheriff's Offices, Highway Patrol, vet offices, all shelters and rescues we can find in the area, Game Warden, Wildlife Rehabilitator, Emergency Management, road crew, landowners and ranchers in the area, PetFBI, Pawboost, PetcoLostLove, etc. We even had two separate volunteer drone operators come out. A number of absolutely amazing local volunteers have stepped up to assist, and we are eternally grateful.

But Daisy is still lost.

A professional pet trapper is now doing her best to guide us - remotely - from four hours away. Catching a frightened dog is challenging and we need expert help. She will need gas money and of course some kind of compensation when she can find the time to take the long drive to try to help Daisy. She will be using vacation time to do this for us. For the trapper to be successful we need to know exactly where Daisy is going and when. For this reason a trail camera (with food) has been set up in one location. We need more of them.

Just today, June 17, a Highway Patrol Officer spotted her walking on the shoulder of I-70. She was wet and looking exhausted. He stopped and she approached his vehicle. But as soon as he got out she got scared and ran. He called her name and she briefly turned around and stopped. But the she bolted again.

We know the area she's sheltering in. We just need to get her trapped and to safety, and then immediately to a veterinarian. Hopefully we can catch her before she is seriously injured.
Daisy is 2 years old, spayed, and microchipped. She is a Border Collie or a mix, weighs about 34 lbs and of course doesn't know the area at all. We are very worried about the dangers she's facing: the Interstate is right there, predators all around, even possibly ranchers mistaking her for a coyote.

She is terrified of thunderstorms and is now all alone outside, probably without food or shelter, and with severe weather lately.

We just can't give up! Can you help us help Daisy?
