Help requested for Gus’ emergency surgery!

Hi, my name is Lauren and I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my husband, Gustavo, or if you know him well, Gus.

Yesterday he was admitted to hospital with extreme pain and weakness. Via tests and scans, we learned that his gallbladder is infected and blocked and he also has stones and now requires surgery today to have all of that removed.

For those of you who know us both well, you know that I have spent the last five years managing a cancer diagnosis. We have been working to recover financially from that experience, and unfortunately, I am now disabled and we rely upon his income at this time; therefore need to ask for help during this time that he will undergo surgery and convalesce afterward.

All donations will be used to take care of unexpected medical costs that are not covered by insurance, nutritional needs, as well as copays and uncovered expenses that will arise as he will begin to see specialists regularly for post-operative care.

Should you not who know Gus, I’m glad for you to get a chance to learn about him. Gus serves the individuals in our community who suffer the most: Folks who are dealing with basic needs insecurities, and most importantly, with mental health crises. He has served the Austin area and surrounding communities loyally and faithfully for 20 years. He is generous, kind, and will do anything he can to help anyone in need feel confident in their ability to take care of themselves day to day. Simply put: he meets you right where you are, and he’s my hero.
