Help Replace Tim's Lost Tools
Last Friday the construction site that Tim is working on experienced a break-in, in which Tim was robbed of $1300 worth of brand new tools. We believe that it was a targeted break-in, as they only took Tim's tools, leaving thousands of dollars worth of other tools on the site.
Tim's employer and the general contractor have both refused to take responsibility for not adequately securing the job site. They removed the site’s security cameras and lockbox, turned off security lighting, failed to hire overnight security, and didn't provide a locked door to the site. Finally, they didn't even tell their workers that the site was not secure, and they didn't inform Tim that a break-in had occurred until he arrived at work almost three days later. His employer has repeatedly told Tim that he doesn't qualify for his company's insurance to replace the lost tools. The general contractor has filed a police report, but he's not confident that it'll lead to anything given the lack of camera footage or other evidence. The message is clear: Tim is on his own to replace his tools.
A contractor’s tools are their livelihood, and without them Tim cannot work efficiently, so they must be replaced. At this time of year, with Christmas approaching and a family to support, this unexpected cost is an additional burden in an already difficult year. We started this GoFundMe to try and ease that burden for Tim and his family.
2020 has been hard for everyone, but we’re hoping to make things a little better for someone whom we love and care for. If you can, please help us hit our goal of the cost of replacement tools for our friend Tim.
