Baldon FC, a local community club in the Eltham/New Eltham area has recently had the home ground lock up and burger van broken in to. All the grounds equipment including the mower has been stolen along with brand new samba goals, all the first aid kits and footballs.
As anyone that has ever been involved with Baldon will already know, the club strives to make improvements and provide opportunity within local grassroots football, right from tots to women’s to the men’s game. Marc and his family, and the many parents and volunteers involved, work tirelessly to run 23 youth teams, a women’s team and multiple men’s teams at different standards to allow as many people as possible to play the game.
The club has a real family feel about it and welcomes absolutely anyone through the gates and on to the pitch. Baldon often hosts tournaments and football festivals and the pitches are never empty, creating a real buzz and friendly atmosphere at the home ground.
Running grassroots football teams do not come with a profit, and any money in for subs goes straight back out on referees, trophies, medals and equipment. Marc, the coaches and the clubs community volunteers clear the grounds, cut the grass and mark pitches meaning all the sub money can be spent on the game. It is going to cost a lot of money to replace what has been stolen. Any donations would really mean a lot to the club and the players and replace equipment as quickly as possible. Anyone that has been involved with the club as a player, spectator or an opponent, and sees the fantastic work Baldon does within community football please share the page and help get them back on their feet!
