Help replace stolen equipment from Cooee Arthouse

Please help Loren Kate replace stolen sound equipment and upgrade security at Cooee Arthouse - Cooee Arthouse has been a dream of Loren Kates since she was 13 years old. 

As a teenager Loren drew up some plans of a wooden house with a porch. As you walked in you could hear music coming from one corner where a stage beckoned anyone who wanted to play a tune or two. Smells were wafting out from another corner where a small café fed the homeless for free and parents could teach their children how to cook. Down the hall there was a library with couches and pillows that you could sink into and another room which was dedicated to intimate concerts and films. 

Loren Kate named this place Luka, after the Suzanne Vega song. 

Since a little girl, Loren Kate has tendered to this dream, keeping it close, hoping to one day provide this sense of place for her community. Cooee Arthouse is the beginning of making the dream a reality, a place that brings people together to share songs and stories.

Sadly, the Cooee Arthouse was broken-in to last week and valuable sound equipment was stolen. There was no insurance because Cooee Arthouse had pretty much closed the doors due to COVID. Normally valuables are not stored at the arthouse, but on this one occasion, some things were left there. This equipment helped Loren Kate and her family meet their basic needs and we know the huge impact that covid has had on the livelihood of musicians and artists. It's valued to around $4000. 

As a community, I am asking that we come together to help raise money to replace what was taken and any additional funds will be used to update security. We all look forward to Cooee Arthouse returning to a space we can all enjoy. COVID restrictions are starting to lift in South Australia, and we will be able to come together to enjoy the beautiful sounds that sing from Cooee Arthouse.
