On Friday, May 30th, our beloved basket #9 at the Playa Lucia Disc Golf Course in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico was stolen. This marks the second time a basket has been taken since the course was installed in September 2023.

Playa Lucia has quickly become a vital hub for the community, introducing disc golf to the youth of Yabucoa. Thanks to the course, nine local kids are now preparing to travel to Emporia, Kansas to compete in the Junior Disc Golf World Championship — a milestone none of us could have imagined just a year ago.

Beyond the local impact, Playa Lucia has welcomed visitors from all over, showcasing the natural beauty and spirit of southeastern Puerto Rico.

We have filed a report with the police and are taking extra steps to better secure the remaining baskets. While it's hard to stop a determined thief, we’re doing all we can to protect this space for our community.

We're now raising funds to replace basket #9 — the first basket ever aced in Puerto Rico — at a cost of $800 with shipping.

Any support you can offer will go directly toward the immediate replacement of the basket and continuing the momentum of disc golf in Yabucoa.
