Our church, Southside Baptist Church in Elkhart, Indiana (Senior Pastor, Dr. Plez Lovelady), has experienced significant theft involving our external cooling system.
Last year, someone stole the copper from our air conditioning unit. We were grateful when a member of the community generously donated a new system. We remain deeply appreciative of that kindness and, above all, God’s provision—especially as a small church.
On Thursday, April 9, we discovered that the compressor had stopped working. A repair technician provided an estimate, and we began discussing a plan to save and address the repair.
Sunday, April 12, as we were leaving the church, we noticed something SHOCKING—the ENTIRE cooling unit had been stolen — taken — between Thursday and Saturday.
We ask that you please keep our church, the individual responsible, and our community in your prayers. We trust that God will make a way, even in this circumstance.
I am sharing this to raise awareness and encourage everyone to remain observant.
We are raising funds to replace and secure our church's cooling system and improve safety measures following the recent theft.
Funds will support:
- Replacement of the cooling unit
- Installation and protection of security equipment
- Repairs and restoration
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to fully restore and protect our community space.
