Help Replace My Totaled Car After Accident

Many of you know me, so I’m sharing this with those I trust. On April 10th, my car was struck by a drunk driver. The crash caused damage to four vehicles, but mine was the only one completely totaled. Fortunately, just five minutes before the accident, my son, fiancée, and I had gotten out of the car—this happened right in front of us.

I’m not the type to ask for help. I’ve always prided myself on being a hard worker, someone who handles things on my own. But at this point, I’m reaching out because I really have no other option. My car was the only one I had, and it was essential for getting me to work, taking my son to school, and handling daily responsibilities.

For the past few days, I’ve been fortunate to have help with rides when I can, but it’s becoming more difficult. I just can’t afford to rely on Uber every day.

I’ve spoken with the insurance company of the driver who hit me, and unfortunately, he has a basic policy that doesn’t cover much. They’re splitting the damages between all four of the car owners involved, including mechanic fees and towing charges—my car was the only one that needed to be towed. After the inspection, the appraiser ruled my car a total loss. The damages amount to about $10,000.

My car is no longer drivable, and I had to junk it. The insurance is offering me about $900-$1,000, but that doesn’t cover the mechanic or towing fees, and I only got $50 from junking the car.

I know the amount I’m hoping to raise might seem like a stretch, but I’m not asking for anything fancy or new—just something reliable enough to get me back on my feet. Anything helps, and I would truly appreciate your support in any way possible.
