On August 1st, while working as a background actor on a high-budget film titled Christmas Everyday (produced by Lifetime Entertainment and Fox Entertainment), I was the victim of a car theft. The production was being filmed at Ambient Studios near Morehouse in Atlanta.
I had my DJ equipment in my car because I was scheduled to perform at a bar shortly after being wrapped from the set. Upon arriving at 11:14 a.m., I attempted to park near the front of the studio, but a representative from Ambient Studios redirected me to a lot closer to the main road. Although I felt uneasy, I trusted that the area would be secure, given the nature of the production and my past experience on sets that usually employ security.
Around 9:20 p.m., production halted filming to announce that two cars had been broken into. Unfortunately, my car was one of the victims. While the thieves didn’t take my speakers and subwoofer, they did steal my FLX10 DJ controller (valued at $1,700) and shattered my passenger-side window. The production agreed to cover the window repair but has declined to reimburse me for the stolen item. I also lost $470 in income from Two gigs I had missed as a result of the theft, and I'm currently trying to pursue legal action.
Any support or guidance would make a meaningful difference as I work to replace my equipment for upcoming performances. Thank you for taking the time to consider my situation.
