I bought this camera brand new a few years ago and it has caused me nothing but problems since. In contrast to my Canon photography camera (that I have used and abused, shot in the rain / snow and never had a problem ever), I have babied my Lumix and the thing has never seen even a hint of precipitation.
The first thing to die on the Lumix was the LCD screen. I tried making a vlog and halfway through, the screen stopped working. I found a workaround with that and started to use my computer monitor as reference. All good. I can work with complications.
Then my eye sensor started to go crazy. If I looked away for a second, it would just stop responding to me. So I took a piece of cardboard and taped it to the thing so that wouldn't be a factor. Okay, fine. All good. I can work with complications.
Last night, while I was trying to shoot a video, the camera locked up and seized. Now, no matter what lens I attach to it, the camera doesn't recognize the thing and I am left in perpetual anxiety trying to figure out why. I cleaned the sensors. I set my firmware on my camera to the previous version. I did everything that the internet told me to do.
Panasonic told me that it would be $700 to fix. And I don't have $700. But even if I did, I've had such a hard time with the camera almost from the day that I got it that I don't want to invest even more money into it just to have further problems in the future.
So instead, I want to go the route of a different camera entirely. I want to get a Sony mirrorless camera and a lens converter so I can use my Canon lenses with it.
I hate to even have to do this, but there is no way I can continue with my video projects if I don't, so that's where you come in. If you like what I do, please consider helping me out.
