Hello everyone, my name is Kelsea Johnson.

As many of you know, Cora Cartrette was my mother in law and in February of 2025 she lost her life after being in an accident with a Brunswick County Sheriff’s Deputy.

The reasoning behind this GoFundMe is to help raise money to replace the pictured cross that was removed from the crash site located at the intersection of HWY 17 and Ploof Rd in Leland. The pictured cross was placed at the site almost a week ago and upon taking her oldest child to work on the morning of the 14th we quickly realized that the cross was no longer there.

The original cross that was placed in February was a wooden cross beautifully made by her beloved coworkers and friends of the Chick-fil-A located in Leland, but due to it becoming weathered quickly, the decision was made to have a weatherproof cross made to withstand all outside conditions. We did place the original wooden cross back at the cross site, but unfortunately it was taken, again.

A few people from the surrounding communities have reached out regarding donations to go towards another cross and at this time we feel that this is the best way to do so.
