I live in a community for elderly and disabled residents, and today, April 26, 2026, I was out to dinner with my neighbor. As we walked outside, we saw a boy, about 11 years old, his name is A.J. talking to a passerby and crying his eyes out. Sensing something was wrong, I called out to him and asked if he was okay. He replied that someone had stolen his electric bike and he had seen the person riding off. I asked if he had called his mom or the police, and he asked to use my phone. We called his mom, who immediately came to where we were. As I drove off, I saw this innocent child full of tears and felt enraged that such an injustice had taken place. I wanted nothing more than to ease his pain, so I turned to my neighbor and said, something has to be done.
My plan is to start this fundraiser with the goal of replacing A.J.’ S bike and buying him a very nice bike lock made to secure an electric bicycle. I would like it to be a surprise and post the video of me giving this boy a chance to ride an electric bike again. This is a chance to bring hope and joy back to a child who has suffered a loss.
I welcome anyone to join me in this opportunity to right this wrong. If you have had something you loved taken from you as a child, you know that pain. Let’s get this child a bike and a bike lock. If you can’t donate, please ask around. Donations of an electric bicycle are also welcome. Together, we can make a difference and show A. J. that his community cares.
