Help Replace a Stolen Car and Support Josh's Education

The most striking thing about my boyfriend, Josh, is his energy. He is exuberant, with so much life and excitement. His favorite hangout spot is Dave & Buster's - he finds so much joy in getting the high score on the piano game or willingly putting himself through the very obviously-rigged baseball game. He also gets the most laughs out of every room he's in. At church, he prays fervently and sings the loudest. He gives 100% of himself to everything, especially God. He feels that his calling in life is to be a pastor and is currently enrolled in a ministry college. You can tell he follows Jesus by how he shines His light wherever he goes.

He is also extremely tenacious. He had a very difficult upbringing which resulted in severe mental, emotional, and physical harm. He left home at 18 and worked 3 jobs just to survive in San Diego. The fact that he is still alive, thriving in his work as a country club’s kitchen manager, education, and relationships, is a testament to an inner strength that most people at 21 don't have.

Last month, Josh’s car got stolen and was found across the border. With insurance only covering less than the remainder of the stolen car’s payments and no financial cushion to purchase another car, he’s struck with the difficult process of trying to get around, especially since public transit in San Diego is basically nonexistent. He was already having difficulty making tuition payments since his work hours are capped due to his school schedule and, as a result, got his preaching and onstage hosting opportunities revoked for the next 8 weeks.

Having had to be self-reliant for the majority of his life, Josh struggles to accept help from others. He feels like a burden in other people's lives and puts too much pressure on himself to be independent and constantly striving for more. He is so deserving of love and care, and I know that now more than ever, community support can make a meaningful difference. Contributions to this fundraiser will go directly toward helping him pay for his faith-based education, pay off over $10k in credit card debt, and afford a car that can take him from point a to point b.

If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Your generosity will help provide comfort, stability, and hope to someone that has spent so many years giving to others.
