Help Replace a Music Student's Stolen Guitar

Donation protected
Hey everyone. Thank you so much for your help so far in trying to locate my guitar. I am so incredibly sad to be making this fundraiser, but I am completely out of options. For those of you who missed it, my guitar was stolen after I made an awful mistake. I had just finished teaching lessons, walked out of Welch Music, and began trying to tie my trunk shut. I had to climb through the back seat of my car and propped my guitar up against the car. I managed to drive away without it, thinking I’d put it back in the seat. I want to say: I have NEVER misplaced a guitar before in my entire career. I drove home to Buhl, ID from Twin Falls. I went to immediately remove it from my back seat and realized my mistake immediately. By the time I made the drive frantically back to work, it was long gone. Unfortunately, due to the way my guitar was stolen, the police will not file a charge unless I can get a description of the vehicle. I have called businesses located near the back parking lot, and most were closed at the time this occurred. One said the workers even saw my guitar laying out there and thought it was odd. I had hope when someone said they saw someone pull up and grab it, but they did not call me back to provide a description. I am at a loss. I am heartbroken.

For my non-musician friends, professional acoustic guitars are extremely expensive. It was the first professional piece I was able to afford as an adult. I played it every single day, as I’m also a music major in college studying. I’ve spent thousands of hours practicing, gigging, teaching, and creating a bond with my instrument akin to my own hand. This was not just any guitar, and I cannot afford to replace it on my own.

A new Martin Road Series D12e is valued at $1,350.

Playing a guitar 8+ hours a day is demanding on your hands. I already suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome from being a professional musician and practicing until my fingers are shredded. High-quality guitars are built to be played constantly and help mitigate the amount of stress on your hands. They also have a better quality in their sound, which helps my chances of getting scholarships and funding for my future/current education (auditions are brutal and funding is competitive). I know you may not know me, but if you have the means to help me, I would appreciate it more than you could ever know. Times are hard right now, and I get that more than you could ever imagine as a full-time student working to also pay rent and put food on the table. If you can spare even just $10, it would mean the world to me. If you cannot, I completely understand.

I know in the end, this was my mistake, and I will regret it for the rest of my life. I just wish there were honest people left in this world. Why couldn’t they have just brought it back and turned it in? I’d much prefer it than to end up here in desperation. I’ll take a song request from you when I can replace my acoustic. Thank you for reading, and thank you to the city of Twin Falls/Rants and Raves for your kindness during this time.
