On the 8th of January 2021, I married my husband in St Lucia with my children and close family present, including my dad.
Later that evening, my dad returned to his hotel room and little drunk. I went to check on him, he seemed fine but 10 mins later I returned to him looking like he wasn't breathing - his face changing colour.
I immediately ran for help, I ran to the medical centre at the hotel. I was knocking and asking for immediate help - the nurse called the doctor on call who was based off site 30 mins away. The nurse brought oxygen to the room reluctantantly, and when I got back to the room my husband was already performing cpr and mouth to mouth resuscitation to my dad.
Everything from there is a blur of cpr, doctors, ambulance etc. At no point did my dad respond to the cpr or any of the drugs administered.
We are currently dealing with a less than adequate medical system in St Lucia and still awaiting a post mortem.
Our main goal is to return my father back to the UK for his funeral, rather than have the funeral in St Lucia. This comes at a large cost and to top things off our travel insurance was not updated correctly by Tui when he was added to the booking.
We have support from our family but we are asking for a small donation to go towards the bill which is estimated at £20,000 upwards to get him home.
This is not something we would usually do, a small donation would go a long way and mean so much!
