Help Repatriate Hari Kiran to India for His Final Rites

With immense sorrow and heartbreak, we share the tragic news of the untimely passing of Hari Kiran Senagana, a 26-year-old graduate student from University of Central Missouri(UCM), who drowned on July 4th, 2025, at Illgen Falls near Lake Superior in Silver Bay, Minnesota.

Hari came to the U.S. full of dreams and determination. Born and raised in a small, underprivileged village—Chikkala, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India—he was the first in his family to pursue higher education abroad. A bright, hardworking, and humble soul, Hari was in the final semester of his master’s degree and had just secured an intership following with full time job.

During the July 4th weekend, Hari went on a short trip with friends. What was meant to be a day of nature and relaxation turned into an unimaginable tragedy. A sudden surge of water at Illgen Falls swept him away. Despite the best efforts of rescue teams, Hari couldn’t make it out. His body was recovered after an intense three-hour search.

Hari’s family is shattered. His parents, back home in India, are devastated beyond words. His mother collapsed upon hearing the news. They have no one here in the U.S., and very limited resources. The cost of repatriating Hari’s body to India, along with funeral expenses, is beyond unaffordable.
