Our dear friend, Mrs. Carol Arubi passed away on the 6th of July, 2024, at the Jewish General Hospital, Montreal, leaving behind her two lovely daughters: Omasan and Dede in Montreal, Canada. Carol suffered a cardiac arrest while in the emergency department of the Jewish General Hospital to conduct a medical test on the 7th of March, 2024. She was in a coma for four months, while we waited with much anticipation for her recovery before she passed on.

The news of Carol’s death has left us her friends, children, siblings and aged parents devastated, so much so that we are yet to come to terms with her demise. Carol was such a wonderful mother to her children and was always there to pull us her friends together whenever we fell apart. She was her mother’s only daughter and best friend. She was more than a friend and classmate to us. Carol was a sister and a member of our family.

To preserve the memory of Carol for us and her children, and to help bring closure to the state of denial her aged parents currently find themselves, it was resolved to bury her in her home town, Warri, in Delta State of Nigeria.

We never saw this tragedy coming and believed she would pull through. Unfortunately, we were not prepared for the high cost of flying her remains to Nigeria to give her the memorial she deserves and to bid her our last goodbyes.

To this end, we are currently soliciting voluntary donations to help cover the cost of repatriating Carol’s body to Nigeria. We need to raise $20,000 for flight expenses to take Carol from Canada to Nigeria by 8th September 2024.

Please your donation, no matter how little, will go a long way in helping her children and her friends take Carol home and give her the befitting burial she deserves as a mother, friend, sister and the big aunt she was.
