Fundraising goal: $30,000 USD
The $540,000 shown is in Mexican Pesos (MXN), not USD.
All donations are converted to pesos and used locally for repairs.
We are raising money for an orphanage in Mexico that we have worked closely with and personally supported for over 8 years. We have an established relationship with the orphanage and its director, Jorge.
The girls’ home is currently not usable due to damage and poor past construction. Because of this, 22 girls are currently crowded into one small house, and the orphanage is unable to take in any additional girls who are in need. Once funding is secured, construction is expected to take approximately two months.
The orphanage currently cares for 98 children and receives no government assistance. They rely entirely on donations to provide housing, food, medical care, utilities, and daily necessities.
Repairs needed include:
- Roof repair and shingle replacement to stop water damage
- Replacement of fascia, drywall, and addition of drip edges
- Replacement of exterior doors and door jambs
- Replacement of interior doors with sturdy doors
- Electrical upgrades, including metal covers and LED lighting
- Kitchen paint and new appliances
- Replacement of single-pane windows with energy-efficient windows
- Mold and water damage repair behind showers
- Rebuilding showers so they can be safely used
- Upgrading toilet rooms and replacing toilets
- Repairing tile on part of the floor
- Replacing sinks, paint, and plumbing in bathrooms and washrooms
- Rebuilding and painting the laundry room and replacing its exterior with water-resistant materials
If donations exceed the repair costs, remaining funds will be used for additional repairs, food, medical care, utilities, and daily care for the children.
All donations are sent directly through GoFundMe to the orphanage director, Jorge Fonseca who is listed as the beneficiary on this fundraiser.
Thank you for helping us make this home safe again so more girls can be cared for.
