Help Restore Vanessa's Superpowers After Injuries!

I've set up this fundraiser for my friend, Vanessa Smith (Austin, TX) , who is suffering severe injuries, stemming from a July 13th (not-at-fault) automobile accident. She's a single mother, a high-flyin' rock & roller (Guitar/Vocals in Dogs And Diamonds & Amnesia Babies) , author of Sexy Magnetic You , and a woman who shares her heart & full-speed-ahead love of life, with everyone she crosses paths with.

THE PURPOSE: I'm hoping that this fundraiser will help Vanessa to keep groceries in the cupboard for she & her teenage son, pay some of her regular household bills, and with enough love, allow her to purchase a modest vehicle (to alleviate the burdens & expense of finding transportation to doctor & hospital appointments), as well as being HUGE stress relievers while she recovers from serious injuries sustained in a recent auto accident.
THE CAUSE: Regardless of how confidently we embrace the world, life has it's way of tossing an occasional stumbling block or two in our path, and that's what Vanessa is dealing with right now -- MAJOR stumbling blocks.
While driving for Uber, a job that has been paying most of her bills to support herself and her son, Vanessa was smashed into and sideswiped for a considerable distance on Mopac by another car barreling down the freeway at 5am on July 13th.
The collision ended up totaling her vehicle, and causing her a great deal of physical pain... Over the week that followed, she got the complete runaround from the insurance companies. Basically everything that could go wrong did and this put a tremendous amount of stress on her, on top of her physical injuries she is dealing with. She was forced to retain a personal injury attorney, now without a vehicle, at a loss of her ability to work, in constant pain, and of course without her car to drive for Uber.
Vanessa was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome. This injury has led to an array of problems, beyond the severe pain she also has numbness in her hands & feet, memory issues, intermittent "brain fog", etc.. Just keeping up with conversations has been challenging.
Finally, as of early/mid-August, she's been able to start seeing doctors, and begin a barrage of testing & treatment for her injuries. Her recovery will happen, but none of this will be a "quick fix" or an inexpensive process, by any measure.
Due to her injuries, Vanessa, the musician, has also been sidelined. Her bands have been forced to cancel upcoming gigs, and even the most casual practices have become too taxing to participate in... This in itself is a major downer, because as Vanessa says, "Second only to my son, playing music is my main source of happiness".
Another troublesome by-product of this accident, is that it has left this otherwise (extremely) self-sufficient go-getter without her car, which has been her primary means of income (driving for Uber), and sole daily transportation for both herself & her son (plus what will now be multiple doctor & hospital visits each week, for the foreseeable future). Insurance actually did cover the damage to her vehicle, but having purchased the car new, several years ago, the depreciated value was approximately the same as she still owed on it, so with the car being totaled, the balance of her loan was covered, but she has lost several years worth of equity AND has lost the car, too!
So, now that you've read the "cliff notes" version of everything that Vanessa is going through, and will be dealing with for (at least) months to come, I hope that YOU will consider sharing the love with this bold, beautiful soul, by contributing whatever you can afford, be it one dollar, or ten, or even a hundred. I'm just asking for a helping hand, so that Vanessa & her son don't have to worry about getting to/from school, doctor appointments, necessary daily errands, and to help buy groceries, so that she can concentrate her energies on healing & dealing with the insurance company obstacles.
And I certainly understand that we can't always afford to contribute financially to friends in-need, but rest assured, even simply sharing this fundraiser with your social networks will help immensely, so PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO SHARE!
