Help Reopen Surfin Rita

Hi everyone!

We’ve created this GoFundMe with the hopes that loyal customers and fans of Surfin Rita can help us through these last few hurdles to reopen in our new location. Surfin Rita Daiquiris To-Go is located in Surfside Beach, TX, and we’ve been in business for almost ten years.

2024 was the hardest year our business has ever had. Hurricane Beryl halted our business in July, and we never financially recovered. Then we were given one month’s notice to vacate the property we had been leasing for 9.5 years in October of 2024.

Marissa (AKA Rita), the owner, is a newly single mom who has done everything she can to keep the bills paid while having no source of income for the last four months. She has borrowed money from friends and family and liquidated everything she can to get Surfin Rita back in business. She’s maxed out her credit cards for the first time in her life. She’s also made sure to still employ her longtime salaried manager because having her lose her source of income after her loyal years of employment wasn’t something she could stomach. Marissa started this company when she was 22 years old and never looked back. She has put her heart and soul into this business and will continue to do whatever it takes.

We are at the last big stages of developing the new property we will be leasing, but with that comes even more costs on top of what we have already spent to renew our TABC license and update our permits. Money raised will go towards covering the costs of:

-a new sewer pump and labor

-installation of new electrical pole

-weekly payroll costs

-loads of crushed concrete to enhance the property

-installation of new signage on property

-installation of lighting around property

Asking for help is so hard but finding the ways to get Rita back in business is what truly matters.

We are tentatively going to be able to open in April, but we could really use our community's help to get there. We do not ask for help lightly, and every penny counts in our eyes. We thank you and can’t wait to serve everyone again soon!
