Help Reopen Summerville Academy

A Second Chance Starts here

Summerville Academy is more than just a
school.

it is a lifeline for students needing academic support,
behavior management, and a fresh start.

At its peak, the Academy served 40-50 students daily, with retired educators returning to do what they love: teach, mentor, and change lives.

The program was originally designed to provide a safe haven for short-term suspended students- so they wouldn't lose academic momentum and could remain on track for graduation.

Now, we're on a mission to bring it back - and we need your help:

Academic Programs - GED prep, Tutoring, and personalized credit recovery.
Mentoring Programs - one on one guidance from professionals and trained volunteers.
Behavioral Support - Structured, restorative approaches with a no-nonsense policy.
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)- Building resillence, self-worth, and life skills.

At Summerville Academy, we believe faith and education walk hand in hand.

In our Christ-centered, purpose-driven community, students find more than just lessons.

They find hope, support, and a fresh start.

We're reopening our doors, ready to welcome every child searching for a second chance.

With your help, we can build a future where every student knows their worth and finds their purpose.

Let's break chains and build futures, together.

Join us at Summerville Academy.

A new hope is waiting.

Our Mission

Summerville Academy is more than just a school—it was a beacon of hope for students in need of a second chance. At its peak, the academy served 40 to 50 students daily, offering them a structured, nurturing environment where learning, discipline, and growth were made possible through the dedication of retired educators who returned to the classroom to do what they love: teach, mentor, and transform lives. Today, we are working to reopen this vital institution as a full-service alternative learning environment for suspended students and high school dropouts in Wilson County. Our vision is to disrupt the cycle of academic failure and disengagement by offering personalized academic recovery programs—including GED preparation and credit recovery aligned with Wilson County Schools—alongside long-term mentoring relationships with professionals, college students, and trained volunteers. The academy will also provide a disciplined, zero-tolerance setting focused on restorative practices and behavioral growth, as well as social-emotional learning initiatives that cultivate resilience, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution skills. With your support, Summerville Academy can once again open its doors and offer the promise of a better future—because every student deserves a second chance.

Why It Matters

Wilson County is facing a serious challenge. Rising suspension and dropout rates are pushing too many students off the path to success. These students are not bad—they’re hurting, misunderstood, and in need of support.

Summerville Academy will be a full-service alternative learning environment, designed to turn those lives around. Your donation helps us rebuild a program that’s proven to work—supported in the past by the city manager, county manager, chief of police, sheriff, and the mayor.

What We’re Building

With your support, we’ll provide:

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Programs to build resilience, manage emotions, and resolve conflicts.

We’ll serve 40–50 students daily, creating opportunities where others see dead ends.
