Hello, my name is Kato Mukasa – a human rights campaigner, lawyer, author, and social entrepreneur. I am also the founder and Director of Pearl Vocational Training College, a centre of hope and transformation located in Lwengo District, rural Uganda.
Since 2016, this college has been a beacon of empowerment for:
Teenage mothers who were forgotten by society
Single mothers and widows struggling to rebuild their lives
Poor rural and urban women yearning for opportunity
Youth desperate for a second chance
Through our practical, hands-on courses in tailoring, baking, hairdressing, events management, and business decoration, we’ve empowered hundreds of women and youth with the skills they need to support themselves and their families.
But then came COVID-19.
Like many grassroots initiatives, the pandemic hit us hard. With no external support, we were forced to shut down operations. But our mission never died. And now, we are ready to rise again.
A New Beginning – Skills and Sustainable Support
We are relaunching the college with a refreshed vision: to equip our students not just with skills, but also with the means to turn those skills into income. We are launching a revolving, interest-free loan fund to help graduates:
Start small businesses
Build independence
Return the capital so the next cohort can benefit
This model will multiply the impact of every pound given.
Our Goal: £4,000
This amount will help us:
Reopen and furnish the training spaces
Recruit skilled trainers
Kickstart the interest-free microloan program
Purchase startup toolkits (sewing machines, baking equipment, salon kits)
Why Your Support Matters
For many girls and women in rural Uganda, Pearl College is their only hope. Every donation, no matter the size, brings dignity, independence, and renewed dreams.
You can also support us by purchasing a copy of my book: “The Man In The Middle”, with 100% of proceeds going toward the college’s revival.
